Frederick County Commissioner Blaine Young

In favor of a waste-to-energy incinerator

Blaine Young was recently appointed his county commissioner seat by the Frederick County Republican Central Committee. He was quoted in The Gazette as saying: "I am a fan of the incinerator concept, but I did not like the McKinney site."Read more here.

Although Young is rerunning, it is only for ONE TERM:

Frederick County Commissioner Blaine R. Young is vowing to serve only one term if he is elected to the board this fall.

During an interview this week, Young (R) said he would rather dedicate his time to his wife and two sons and manage Yellow Cab, the company he co-owns in Frederick, than serve more than four years on the board.

Young said he will not change his mind even if he is the highest vote-getter in the election, making him commissioners' president.

"I have no intention of serving another term," he said. "I will serve only one term. ... I just don't have the desire. It's not my life dream to be a county commissioner."

Young said he considers serving as a county commissioner a privilege and an honor, but he does not particularly enjoy the job.

"I don't hate it, but I just don't love it," he said. "It's just something I have to do."
